"Field Trips" in Upstate New York - Finger Lakes Area

We made it to New York! We had some time before Brett starts residency and so we were able to take some day trips and explore some natural wonders around us. The Finger Lakes are just to the south of us here in Rochester and so we drove down twice to two different state parks and hiked around. We were able to see a lot of waterfalls and we tried to capture them in these pictures but it's something very difficult to do as you have to see them in person, they were amazing! The kids loved hiking, especially Liam as he got tired so he was either carried by Mommy or he got to ride on Daddy's shoulders most of the way. The picture of Aidan at the beginning of our blog says it all about how Aidan loved the hiking and seeing the waterfalls.
We also visited a Fish Hatchery at Powder Mills Park. We had a blast feeding the fish, they jump up out of the water for the food! Then we decided to take a hike in the nearby woods. It was a great place to visit and we all agree that we will definitely go back and visit those places again.

Down on the Farm

We took a break from unpacking to check out a farm about 20 minutes from our house in Rochester. The kids had fun on the playground, feeding and watching the goats climb around and mining for rocks and gems. All of us got to bounce on the jumping pillow and go down a big slide and then we topped off the trip by trying some of their home-made ice cream, as you can see the boys loved that part!
